2011-2012 Season Fund Drive!
has news about
an exciting partnership that has developed with the Crowder College
Nevada Campus Intro to Theater class this year. According to Gary Wimmer,
instructor of the class, “Without a venue at the college campus to
present plays, students have traditionally been bound to a theatre
textbook in a classroom setting.” But now that the Fox Playhouse has
been made available to his students, Gary continues, “Theatre has become
a vibrant personal experience for the students in a ‘real’ theatre with
student directors, actors and techies. All aspects of production have
been explored, encompassing costuming, lighting, sound, set, makeup,
acting, and directing in a theatre environment.”
Everyone wins
with this kind of collaboration. Crowder theatre students put on two
full-length plays last season, giving our patrons more opportunities to
attend shows. In addition, many Crowder students are attending CCPA
productions, to the tune of more than $600 in ticket sales for just
three shows. And, in May, Crowder’s Phi Theta Kappa honor society held a
raffle and donated $1,500 to the CCPA for new technical equipment!
The CCPA Board
of Directors is pleased with the success of this partnership. You need
to know that the Board works hard to manage the physical and financial
resources available. Meeting its annual budget, however, is always a
challenge and is not possible without your continued support!
Throughout the past season there have been enhancements to the emergency
lighting system in the building, improvements to the sound system and
repairs to the light board. Even more equipment and structural
improvements are needed.
Your annual
support as a patron of the arts is vital to ensuring that
productions at the Fox continue to be staged. CCPA has a proven track
record of using funds wisely to run the business of Community
Theater—still without increasing ticket prices.

Who is
CCPA?
CCPA - Community Council on the Performing
Arts - dedicated to providing quality cultural entertainment to
Nevada and surrounding communities, through local talent from those
communities.
How large
is the fundraising goal?
$8,000; your donation is
fully tax-deductible. CCPA will use donations this year to fund
our programming season and continue renovations at the Fox Playhouse.

How will you use
the funds?
The funds raised this year will
go mainly toward operating expenses, as the organization faces increasing
utility and maintenance costs for the theater in addition to the funding
needs for each production. CCPA also continues to meet its
obligation to pay down its long term debt stemming from the original
cost of acquiring and renovating the Fox Playhouse. In a very real
sense your contribution this year will keep the curtain going up.
