Dear Friends of CCPA,

When Lester and I retired back to my home town of Nevada in 1989, one of the things we looked forward to was the chance to see some of the plays that my sister, Miriam Gray, had enjoyed in her retirement. We remembered her praise of productions in Welty’s Cow Palace. Imagine our joy to hear that the CCPA was not only still alive, but was growing and had plans for owning their own theater. I had the thrill of seeing my first book, “A Funny Thing Happened on the Road to Senility,” given as a reader’s theater before the move to the Fox Theater. I am a staunch supporter of the CCPA’s success in bringing high quality live theater in their wonderful historic setting of the old Star Theater.

But support needs to be more than words. Donations and advertising are very important to insure that more seasons like the one planned for 2009-2010 will continue. The season begins in September with Cheaper by the Dozen, followed by The Housekeeper in November, the Christmas Wonderland in Nevada Community Choir concert in December, Maybe Baby, It’s You in February, the Spring Fling Community Choir concert in March, The Outrageous Adventures of Sheldon and Mrs. Levine in April and concluding with If the Shoe Fits in June.

Donors whose contributions are received before August 28 will have their names listed in the program books. But more importantly, they will have the joy of knowing that they have helped keep this theater heritage alive in our town!

Please join me in making a contribution to CCPA. Then attend the productions, volunteer your time and talents, enjoy the fellowship in each audience, and look for me—I love to share my pride in our CCPA.

Send your donation before Monday, August 4, 2008, and your name will be included in the program booklets for each show of the 2009-10 season.  All donations are also listed on this website under Donors.  Your gift, no matter the size, helps to keep home grown community theater ALIVE.

Who is CCPA?
CCPA - Community Council on the Performing Arts - dedicated to providing quality cultural entertainment to Nevada and surrounding communities, through local talent from those communities.

How large is the fundraising goal?
$8,000; your donation is fully tax-deductible.  CCPA will use donations this year to fund its programming season and continue renovations at the Fox Playhouse.  We also have a wish list of needed equipment, should you be interested in making a specific contribution.

There are five main goals in the coming season for continuing the progress and maintaining local community theater, including:  installing automatic doors for the theater entrance and rest rooms to comply with ADA handicap accessibility requirements; adding handrails to the steps from the stage to the Green Room for safety; purchasing flag stands for both sides of the stage; repairing and improving the concession area; maintaining progress made to date and keeping the curtain rising all season.

Our Wish List:  CCPA has needs in the area of technical equipment for theater productions.  If you are interested in making a donation toward the purchase of technical equipment, please let us know how to contact you!  Email today!
