The Community Council on the Performing Arts...

CCPA was established in Nevada, Missouri, in 1973.  Since that time, the CCPA has provided over 200 amateur productions for the benefit of the residents in Nevada, Vernon County, and the surrounding area.  The CCPA has touched hundreds of lives in our area through our audiences, workers behind the scenes, or performers on stage.  Our organization takes a leading role in providing artistic opportunities and experiences for the general public and also provides the youth in our local school districts with specialized programming.

Read a recent article about CCPA in The Nevada Daily Mail.

CHIEFS TICKETS - CHIEFS TICKETS - CHIEFS TICKETS!!

CCPA will hold a raffle again this year for two Kansas City Chiefs season passes for the 2008 games.  These tickets have been generously donated to CCPA for fund raising purposes, and they are great seats!  If your name is drawn on July 14, 2008 at the CCPA board meeting (need not be present to win), you will win two 2008 season passes on the upper deck of Arrowhead Stadium, in the FRONT ROW, on the 50 yard line, with parking pass included.  Each chance costs $5, or you can buy 5 chances for $20.  Raffle tickets are available from any CCPA board member, or just enter by mail by sending name, address, phone and email, along with your check payable to CCPA to P.O. Box 754, Nevada, MO 64772.  We will fill out the stubs with your contact information and place them in the drawing pool.  Enter early and often!  For more information about the raffle, email us.

Our Next Production

The musical revue The Melody Lingers On:  The Songs of Irving Berlin will be our final season production.  The performance dates are June 5, 6, 7 and 8.  The Community Choir will be directed by Brenda Golden.

The Melody Lingers On:  The Songs of Irving Berlin is a musical revue with narration taken from the book Irving Berlin:  A Daughter’s Memoir, by Mary Ellin Barrett.  The revue includes such favorites as “Alexander’s Ragtime Band”, “Oh! How I Hate to Get Up in the Morning”, “Blue Skies”, Steppin’ Out With My Baby”, and “There’s No Business Like Show Business”.

More than 34 of Irving Berlin’s songs will be sung by the “cast” of 9 persons, which includes Tim Wilson, Teresa Sword, John Scarborough, Scott Theis, Bonnie Query, Wes Morton, Edi Gragg, Arlene Good, and Brenda Golden, with pianist Glenda Belt.  Chuck Nash will narrate the show.

The Melody Lingers On:  The Songs of Irving Berlin is a fast-paced, fun, and entertaining musical show, which will set listeners’ toes tapping and put smiles on all their faces!

CCPA looking for more production directors!

Have you ever considered directing a show for CCPA?  Now is the perfect opportunity, as we are actively seeking to expand our pool of talented stage directors.  While formal training in theatre arts is certainly welcome, it is not a mandatory requirement.  A wide range of theatre experience can be substituted for the more formal training. We do provide a stipend for our directors and encourage their creativity. Those interested in directing but having no directing experience might want to team up with one of our experienced directors and learn the ropes, and we can facilitate that process.  If you are interested in directing now or think you might want to direct someday please send us a contact number, and our Production Chair will contact you to tell you all about all of our exciting opportunities.

Advance Tickets  and Group Rates Available

You can buy advance tickets for CCPA season productions at two Nevada locations.  Purchase tickets at Cavener's Library and Office Supply and The Nevada News/Daily Mail.  Tickets for a particular performance are available in advance through the close of business hours on the day preceding the performance date.

For groups of 10 or more, a group discount of $1 per ticket is available.  This makes the single ticket price $5 per seat.  Group tickets should be reserved in advance.  Contact us for more details at 417-549-6500 or email us at main@nevadamoccpa.org

We regret that reserved seating is not available at the Fox Playhouse.

Rent the Fox Playhouse

Looking for a venue for your event?  The Fox Playhouse is available for rent, subject to availability, with rental fees dependent on the technical services provided by the CCPA and the type of group (for-profit vs. not-for-profit) wishing to use the Fox.  Contact us for more details at 417-549-6500 or main@nevadamoccpa.org

Join Us!  Volunteers Needed!

CCPA would love to have your help with all aspects of our community theater operations.  Email us or use the Apply button in the left menu to tell us how you would like to be involved.  We encourage anyone in the community to come to auditions for acting, speaking, or singing parts. We also need lots of stage hands, set designers, sound technicians, and directors too!  And, staff help with taking tickets and concessions is always welcome.

We welcome donations to CCPA at any time.  Check out our current wish list. You may send your tax-deductible donation to Community Council on the Performing Arts, P.O. Box 754, Nevada, MO 64772.  To print a donation form click here.
